The cultural riches of Provins obviously attract a great number of school groups, many of which come from outside the town's immediate area. The town has therefore implemented a special reception service for schools.The Provins Tourist Office premises offer a presentation to the old town, with a scale model of Mediaeval Provins and a documentary film. The guided tour of Mediaeval Provins introduces pupils in situ to the realities of everyday life in the Middle Ages.This approach helps pupils understand Mediaeval building methods, systems of defence and expertise. The time spent exploring the town's ancient streets and discovering its religious, civil and military monuments dating from the 12th and 13th centuries brings pupils into close contact with an era that seems so far off - the Middle Ages.Provins is a listed "Arts Town", and as such has its own team of 30 lecturer-guides whose qualifications are recognised by the French Ministry of Culture. These specially trained lecturer-guides are able to work with classes of all levels.
